TWO CHOICES
Life almost always gives us a choice, we either do something or don't do something, there is often not a different option than that. As a young woman I either loved and married Mike or not, I had 6 babies or not, I bought houses to live in or not, I sent my children to a christian school or not, I walk with God and love him or not. Choose to be as happy as my two little girls (well for that moment anyway }
Every single day we make many choices , most of them trivial some of them not so trivial and some of them very important. We use our own brain to evaluate and then carry out the choice we have just made.
Let me tell you from very personal experience that life runs allot more smoothly if we factor God into the equation when we are making choices, I know the outcome of both good and bad choice's because I have tried doing it both ways and the God way is much better.
God is right there 24/7 willing and waiting to lend a hand and help us to make the right choice, sometimes I think he is even shouting at us wanting us to listen but we close our ears and think we know best, then we are the first to scream back at him when it goes all pear shaped.
Just yesterday I was sitting with my pencil in hand trying so hard all on my own to work out our finances and make provision for things that Liam needed for school this year, I was getting so frustrated that the money just was not there. Mike was behind me saying " just ask God" In my head I was thinking "Oh shush up you silly man , God does not care about Liam's calculator" . So I pressed on getting more and more frustrated and more disillusioned, feeling like a failure as a mum who should be providing for her children.
I had missed the point all together, all I had to do was to follow Mike with his choice, who by the way was still sitting behind me proclaiming tanks to God for his provision of the calculator, and chose to ask God for his help in the matter.
Thankfully God was there the whole time listening to Mike who chose to invite God into the matter.
Then when I rang the year 11 co-ordinator to tell him that Liam was going to have to wait a little longer for his calculator, he responded with " I have a spare one right here at home and I would love to lend it to Liam for the year, because you and Mike do so much to serve in your community" Funny ha, so there I am now saying thank you to God and claiming the victory over the prayer I did not even pray. Thankfully God came through for us when Mike chose to pray.
Ephesians 1:3-4 How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He's the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth's foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.
God is there waiting all the time for us to choose to invite him alongside us all day every day, Yes you may say but I am saved I made that choice, however it it a daily renewal, a daily choice to invite God in, through prayer, fellowship with others, just talking with him as you are getting on with the day.
Hearing his voice and responding right there and then, Its no good if you have chosen not to tune into his voice and he is telling you to walk over and talk to some person right there and then, If you don't hear him until that night when you are praying in bed, then you have missed the moment.
Psalm 95;7 Drop everything and listen, listen as he speaks: "Don't turn a deaf ear as in the Bitter Uprising,
Chose to Open up your heart and Mind today and allow God to help you , you will be surprised how well the day pans out for you
Isaiah 50:4
The Sovereign LORD has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.
